The Mission
Building a community based on the legacy of Stanford Fencing. An organization of fencers associated with Stanford University and their supporters, past, present and future, the Stanford Fencing Association was created to promote and support fencing, a tradition at Stanford University since 1891. The Stanford Fencing Association is comprised of the Stanford Varsity team, club members, families, and people who just love fencing.

Fencing at Stanford
The sport of fencing has a long and impressive history at Stanford University. It is currently one of the top-ranked collegiate programs in the United States, having placed 9th in the 2010 NCAA Championships. Stanford fencers have routinely competed in the NCAA Championships, and many have fenced internationally representing the United States. Since the completion of the new athletic facility in 2005, Stanford has hosted the NCAA Qualifiers and other tournaments on the collegiate circuit. For the past sixteen years, Stanford Fencing has contributed to the university's prestigious attainment of the Director's Cup, awarded to the collegiate athletic program with the greatest number of Top 10 sports teams in the country.
Last year, Stanford's fencing program faced the consequences of the economic downturn that affected the university and the country. The
Save Stanford Fencing Website was created in order to raise awareness and support. The current team, coaches, parents, alumni, university affiliates or other interested parties worked hard throughout the year to seek funding and donations in order to sustain the program in the long term. In March 2010, the program received over $1.25 million from major donors, along with over $75 thousand raised from small donations, which will help sustain the program for the following four years and possibly longer. Today, Stanford Fencing faces a bright future, and the network of athletes, alumni, parents, club members, and donors continues to thrive.
